Vols Remain in First After Two Rounds at NCAA Amherst Regional

AMHERST, Va. - The Tennessee men's golf team remains in first place after two rounds of the NCAA Amherst Regional at Poplar Grove Golf Club.
The Vols shot 5-over in the second round and are 4-under overall and one shot ahead of Vanderbilt heading into the final round.
After the final round of stroke play, the top five teams from the Amherst Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, which are scheduled to take place from May 23-28 at Omni La Costa's Champions Course in Carlsbad, California.
Jackson Herrington gave UT its best second-round score after carding another 1-under 69. After making the turn in round two at even-par, the freshman fired a bogey-free 34 (-1) on the back nine. He currently sits tied for fifth at 1-under overall.
Redshirt junior Lance Simpson posted his 23rd round of par or better this season after notching a 70 in the second round. Simpson is 1-over and tied for 20th heading into Tuesday's round.
Junior Josh Hill provided the Vols with a counting round once again, shooting a 72 on Monday. Hill sits even-par through 36 holes and is tied for 12th.
Bruce Murphy provided Tennessee with its final counting score of the day after posting a 74. The redshirt sophomore is inside the top 25 ahead of the third round.
Freshman Christian Pardue is also inside the top 25 after two rounds of play at the NCAA Amherst Regional.
