Peebles Tabbed to Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee's Cannon Peebles was named to the midseason watch list for the 2025 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award on Friday.
The junior backstop is having his best season as a Volunteer and has been especially effective as of late.
Peebles is batting .357 with 10 hits, four home runs and eight RBIs in the team's last 10 games and leads the Big Orange with a .786 slugging percentage and 22 total bases in that span.
The Virginia native recently had three hits in back-to-back SEC games, doing so in the series finale at No. 6 Ole Miss before following that up with another three-hit night in the opening game against Kentucky. In that win over the Wildcats, the switch-hitting Peebles homered from both sides of the plate and finished with a season-high four RBIs.
For the season, Peebles has eight home runs and 25 RBIs at the plate while also proving to be a reliable defender behind it, having thrown out 10 base stealers this year.
Semifinalists for the 2025 Buster Posey Award will be announced on May 19 while the finalists will be revealed on June 5 before the winner is crowned at the Buster Posey Award Ceremony at INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas on June 26. Â
