#10 [7] Lady Vols Fall To #2 [2] Bulldogs In SEC Tournament Quarterfinals, 4-0

Auburn, Ala. – The 10th-ranked Tennessee women's tennis team fell in a 4-0 defeat against No. 2 Georgia in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament on Friday afternoon at Yarborough Tennis Center.
Seven-seeded Lady Vols (16-7, 10-5 SEC) secured a victory on court three, but could not produce the doubles point against second-seeded Georgia (21-3, 13-2). Maeve Thornton and Vanesa Suarez logged a 6-1 decision versus Aysegul Mert and Hayden Mulberry. Elza Tomase and Saray Yli-Piipari dropped a 6-0 result against No. 74 Guillermina Grant and Anatasiia Lopata. The doubles point came down to court one, where the No. 26-ranked pair of Catherine Aulia and Leyla Britez Risso clawed their way back, but could not fend off the No. 2-ranked tandem of Mell Reasco and Dasha Vidamanova, 4-6.
In singles, No. 42 Aulia dropped a 1-6, 1-6 match to No. 22 Anastasiia Lopata, putting the Lady Vols down by two. Maeve Thornton could not fend off Sophia Rojas, 4-6, 1-6. Yli-Piipari was the final Lady Vol to fall, 3-6, 3-6.
UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will await their draw for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The selection show is slated for Monday, April 28, at 5 p.m.
