Greene, Stone Qualify for NCAAs on 1-Meter

AUBURN, Ala. – Tennessee diving's Bennett Greene and Nick Stone punched their tickets to the 2025 NCAA Championships, qualifying for 1-meter on the first day of competition at Zone B Diving Championships.

In order to qualify, the duo had to finish inside the top seven after 12 dives between prelims and finals. Greene was the lone freshman in the field to qualify, taking fifth with a combined score of 681.40. Stone was right behind him in sixth with a 678.90 mark, earning his third straight trip to the national meet.

Greene recorded one of the best performances of the day in the face of adversity. After failing to eclipse 50 points three of his first four dives, the Knoxville native found himself on the outside looking in for the top 18 spots that advanced to finals. He combined for 118 points on his final two attempts to finish 16th in prelims—less than four points from being in 19th.

From there, Greene settled in and threw down the best round of the day by any of the divers, netting 375 points in finals to move up 11 spots and clinch a spot on the NCAA roster. All six of his dives went for 60 or more points, highlighted by a Reverse 1 1/2 Somersault 2 1/2 Twist Free that tallied 66 points to seal the successful list.

Stone was consistent from start to finish. He placed sixth in prelims with a score of 343.95, and then he netted 334.95 in finals. On the day, five of his 12 dives went for at least 50 points.

Because both qualified for one event, Greene and Stone only need to finish inside the top 12 to punch their tickets to NCAAs on 3-meter and platform.
