Tennessee Inks Boruch Skierkier for 2025-26
February 28, 2025 | Men's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Boruch Skierkier, one of the top players in Division II tennis, has signed with the Tennessee men's tennis team and will be a member for the 2025-26 campaign, head coach Chris Woodruff announced Friday.
"Boruch is someone that jumped on our radar fairly recently, but we immediately knew he was meant to be a Vol," associate head coach Matt Lucas said. "Currently we view him as the best Division II tennis player here in the country, and we know his level will transition to the rigors of the SEC."
Skierkier currently attends Valdosta State, where he has played in three dual matches so far, going undefeated in both singles and doubles. In February, he earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors, acquiring two singles wins and posting a doubles victory. Overall on the year, Skierkier holds a 13-2 singles mark and has posted a 5-4 record in doubles.
During the 2022-23 season, he tallied an impeccable 30-1 mark in singles with an undefeated record in dual matches while also going 25-4 in doubles.
"Having been the top-ranked player in South America as a junior, and with the experience he has gained in college tennis, it will be a seamless transition," Lucas added. "His championship pedigree was something that really resonated with our staff. We are looking forward to him joining us this fall!"
Before his time with the Blazers, he was a member of Cowley Community College, where he earned numerous accolades, such as a trip to the NJCAA Individual Regional and National Championships.
His highest ITF Juniors World Ranking was No. 204, and the Clorinda, Formosa, Argentina, native was a highly touted prospect coming into his collegiate career.
