LAST TIME OUT: Last weekend, Tennessee saw three program records fall between two meets in the state of Virginia – the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet (Blacksburg) and the 62nd East Coast Invitational (Virginia Beach). UT rookies Donna Douglas (19.95m / 65-5.25) and Aidan Ifkovits (20.67m / 67-9.75) each established Tennessee freshman records in the weight throw at Virginia Beach, while Sarah Schmitt and Mya Strahm both broke the women's pole vault school record with identical clearances of 4.42m (14-6).
Additionally, the Big Orange secured event titles in the men's 60-meter, 60-meter hurdles, high jump and 4x400-meter relay at the East Coast Invitational.
WEEKLY HONOR: After her record-breaking performance in the pole vault, Mya Strahm was tabbed the SEC Women's Freshman of the Week on Monday. The rookie pole vaulter from Elmwood, Illinois, made history on Saturday at the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet, breaking the Tennessee school record in the women's pole vault with her clearance of 4.42m (14-6) on her third attempt at the bar. The mark also shattered UT's previous freshman record by 20 centimeters.
This season, Strahm currently ranks tied for second in the SEC and 15th in the NCAA in her signature event. Additionally, her performance ranks second among NCAA Division I freshmen this season and sits second on the World U20 top list for 2025.
UT IN THE RANKINGS: According to the most recent NCAA Division I qualifying list, Tennessee athletes currently hold 12 marks that rank top-16 nationally.
