KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee women's tennis senior Catherine Aulia has been selected to represent her native Australia at the Master'U BNP Paribas Championships, set to take place in Reims, France from Dec. 5 through Dec. 7.
"The World Event of University Tennis," Master'U brings together the top collegiate talent in the world to compete for their home country. The matches will consist of two women's singles matches, two men's singles matches, one women's doubles match, one men's doubles match, and one mixed doubles match.
This Fall, Aulia has produced a 5-5 singles record, and 7-5 doubles record alongside Leyla Britez Risso. She and Britez Risso made a run to the ITA Regional Doubles final, and were named alternates to the NCAA Individual Doubles Championships. They are currently ranked as the No. 15 doubles tandem in the NCAA.
Team Australia features multiple NCAA Athletes, including Melisa Ercan (Oklahoma State), Jeremy Jin (Florida, ITA No. 31 singles), Alex Bulte (Florida State) and Nikita Volonski (Tulsa). Tina Smith, who attends a Swedish university, features mainly in professional tennis events.
University of Tennessee women's tennis head coach Alison Ojeda was recently tabbed to coach Team USA's squad, leading a group that features some of the top American talent in the NCAA ranks.
The U.S. has won the Master'U Championship a total of 12 times, including each of the last five.
