Mia Pauldo Nets USBWA, SEC Co-Freshman Of The Week Honors
December 16, 2025 | Women's Basketball
Tennessee guard Mia Pauldo has been named by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) as Tamika Catchings National Co-Freshman of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Southeastern Conference announced its weekly women's basketball awards as well, and Pauldo also picked up SEC Co-Freshman of the Week accolades. These awards mark the first national or league weekly recognition for Lady Vols this season. Talaysia Cooper (11/10) and Nya Robertson (11/25), though, have been honored as Tennessee Sports Writers Association Players of the Week in 2025-26.
Pauldo recorded a career high in points for the second straight game, tallying 18 and tacking on career bests of 10 assists and four steals to help spur the Lady Vols to their finest all-around performance of the season in a 112-40 victory over Winthrop on Sunday at Food City Center.
After scoring 14 points vs. Stanford on Dec. 3, Pauldo increased that personal-best point total by four vs. the Eagles and carded her first collegiate double-double by dishing out a UT season high in assists. She did so after running her tally of dimes over the past two contests to 11 with zero turnovers. The Paterson, N.J., native also matched her season best by knocking down a team-leading four three-pointers, as the Big Orange combined for 16 treys and tied for the second highest single-game total in school history.
Pauldo was ready from the opening tip vs. Winthrop, making three of five field goal attempts in the opening quarter, including two of four from beyond the arc, and all four free throws to score 12 points. She also added two assists and a steal in eight minutes as UT grabbed a 27-9 lead after one. Her 10 assists on the day helped Tennessee tie a Kim Caldwell-era high of 28 dimes and produce a season-best in points against a team that entered the afternoon allowing only 62.5 ppg.
For the season, the 5-foot-6 guard is averaging 8.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists. She has hit 16 three-pointers to rank No. 2 for Tennessee, is connecting on 83.3 percent from the free-throw line and has a very impressive ratio of 23 assists to only seven turnovers. She has committed only three miscues over her past six contests.
Pauldo and her teammates will head to the Big Apple this weekend, where they will meet No. 16 Louisville (10-3) at the Barclays Center in the Shark Beauty Women's Champions Classic on Saturday morning. Tip time is 11 a.m. ET, with the game being televised nationally by FOX and broadcast on Lady Vol Radio Network stations as well as via live audio stream on UTSports.com and SiriusXM (Ch. 106 or 190).
