Vols #25 In Initial College Football Playoff Rankings

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee is ranked No. 25 in the initial 2025-26 College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night.Â
The Volunteers (6-3, 3-3 SEC) are the only three-loss team in the rankings. Their three losses are to teams in the current top 12, including two in the top five: No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia and No. 12 Oklahoma.Â
Tennessee is one of nine SEC teams in the first rankings, joining No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 11 Texas, No. 12 Oklahoma, No. 16 Vanderbilt and No. 22 Missouri.Â
The Vols, who boast the nation's No. 3 scoring offense (43.6 ppg) and No. 4 total offense (504.1), have now appeared in 19 consecutive CFP rankings dating back to Nov. 2022. They have been ranked in either the Associated Press, Coaches or CFP polls for 59 straight weeks.Â
After an open date this weekend, Tennessee welcomes New Mexico State for Homecoming on Nov. 15 in Neyland Stadium. Kickoff is 4:15 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
