October 12, 2025 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. --Â The #17 Tennessee volleyball program got back to winning ways, going on the road and getting the sweep over Ole Miss (25-18, 25-18, 25-20). The win gets the Lady Vols (13-2, 4-1 SEC) their 12th win in their last 13 matches after their 11-game win streak was snapped earlier this week.
The Lady Vols finished the afternoon with 41 kills, finishing for an efficient .273 hitting percentage. Hayden Kubik led the squad once again with 13 kills and was followed by the duo of Chelsea Sutton and Zoë Humphrey with seven kills each. Caroiline Kerr had another quality match for Tennessee, notching 29 assists and six digs. Defensively, Tennessee held Ole Miss to 36 kills and a .168 hitting percentage, with Mackenzie Plante and Maggie Dostic each contributing with nine digs to the team's total of 42. Sutton and Humphrey led the way at the net for Tennessee, with both middle blockers picking up three blocks.
After a close start to the first, the Lady Vols used an 8-1 run to take a commanding 13-6 advantage. Ole Miss could not match the Tennessee attack, with the visiting Lady Vols cruising to a comfortable seven-point win. Kubik got the party started early for The Big Orange offense, with five kills. She was joined by Humphrey with 4, as Tennessee had 14 as a team on a .270 hitting percentage. Kerr contributed 11 assists to start her afternoon, adding two digs to her early total. Plante led the team in digs early on, with her four helping the Tennessee defense finish with 15 overall.
It was much of the same for the Big Orange in the second set. After starting out with back and forth play, a 4-0 run helped them create the distance late in the set. Kubik kept her strong play going in the second, with the senior hitter netting five more kills. Kerr added eight assists to her total and another two digs as well. The Lady Vol block was huge in the set, with four helping to keep the Rebel offense at bay. The defense as a whole did their part, with Ole Miss only able to get nine kills in the second set, finishing with a .000 hitting percentage.
Tennessee got out to an early lead in the third, but an Ole Miss rally made it tied 11-11 midway through the set. A pair of 3-0 runs for Tennessee gave them the separation they needed to finish off the match and secure the road sweep. Sutton led the team offensively in the third with four kills, and was followed by Plante and Kubik with three each. Kerr finished off her match in the middle with 10 assists, while freshman Dostic led the Big Orange floor defense with six digs.Â
Up next, the Lady Vols return home for a match against the Florida Gators at Food City Center on Oct. 15. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m., with the match being broadcast nationally on SEC Network.
