January 09, 2025 | Track & Field
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Tennessee track & field program kicks off 2025 with more than 40 student-athletes set to compete on Friday at the McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M at the R.A. Murray Fasken Indoor Track & Field Facility.
Action from College Station begins at 11 a.m. ET with field events before track events commence at 3:10 p.m. The meet will be streamed online via SEC Network+, and live stats will be provided throughout the competition by Flash Results, Inc.
Third-year head coach Duane Ross leads a group of sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers, throwers, pole vaulters and distance specialists into Friday's meet with 49 athletes set to make their 2025 season debuts in College Station. The action starts with Aron Alvarez Aranda and Aidan Ifkovits in the men's weight throw at 11 a.m. and concludes at approximately 7:47 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay.
BIG ORANGE DEBUTS: A total of 25 athletes will make their Tennessee track & field debuts on Friday, including 13 transfers and 12 true freshmen.
Under the direction of Duane Ross, the Vols and Lady Vols finished 16th and 10th, respectively, in the 2023-24 NCAA Division I Program of the Year standings, which are calculated by combining postseason results from each national championship event in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track – marking the first time UT placed in the top-20 on both sides since the award's inception in 2008-09.
UP NEXT: Indoor season continues next week with a trip to the midstate for the Vanderbilt Invitiational, set for Jan. 17-18 in Nashville.
