June 08, 2024 | Track & Field
EUGENE, Ore. – The Tennessee track & field season concluded Saturday afternoon in Eugene, Oregon, with the Lady Vols collecting All-America honors in three running event finals at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships – headlined by the 4x400-meter relay group placing second nationally with a school record performance of 3:23.32.
Javonya Valcourt, Kyla Robinson-Hubbard, DaJour Miles and Brianna White posted the fastest mile relay mark in Lady Vol history and earned the program's best finish in the event since winning the NCAA title in 1986. The 2024 squad took second overall, featuring closing splits of 50.46 and 49.58, respectively, from Miles and White. The new record ranks Tennessee as the sixth-fastest school in NCAA history and third on the 2024 world list.
White led off Saturday's events for the Big Orange in her first career NCAA 400-meter final, taking eighth overall with a time of 50.79 seconds. The Brooklyn, New York, native became the ninth Lady Vol to earn All-America honors in the event and tallied the best finish for UT in the event since Felecia Majors was also eighth in 2016.
Graduate student Dennisha Page lined up for her final collegiate race in the 200-meter dash final, taking ninth in 23.28 seconds to earn Second Team All-America status. The Lady Vol from Camden, New Jersey, capped her fifth collegiate season as a three-time All-American and top-10 performer in Tennessee history in all four short sprint events.
The Lady Vols finished the meet collecting 10 All-America certificates and placing 30th in the team standings. Page, Joella Lloyd, Sarah Schmitt and Javonya Valcourt each earned Second Team honors on Thursday in their respective events.
This marks the end of the 2023-24 collegiate campaign for Tennessee track & field. UT will turn its attention to the upcoming U-20 World Championships and 2024 Paris Olympic Games this summer.
