#18 Lady Vols Qualify For Three NCAA Finals On Thursday

EUGENE, Ore. – The 18th-ranked Tennessee women's track & field squad opened the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships advancing to national finals in three events on the track. Brianna White and Dennisha Page each made their debuts at the outdoor national meet and qualified for the 400-meter and 200-meter dash finals, respectively, while the second-seeded Lady Vol 4x400-meter relay team cruised into the final to cap Thursday's action from historic Hayward Field.
White lined up in Lane 5 of the third and final heat of the NCAA 400-meter semifinals and turned in a time of 51.40 in the speedy race, finishing fifth in her heat and ninth overall to grab the third and final qualifying spot on time. The senior from Brooklyn, New York, will contest the quarter mile final on Saturday at approximately 6:32 p.m. ET.
Page competed in her second individual event of the evening when she got into the blocks for the women's 200-meter and extended her collegiate career by one race with an automatic qualifying mark of 22.44 seconds. Her time placed second in the heat and sixth in the field, advancing to Saturday's final that will take place at 7:07 p.m. ET.
The women's 4x400-meter relay squad automatically advanced to Saturday's final with a second-place outing in the first heat. Javonya Valcourt, Kyla Robinson-Hubbard, DaJour Miles and White combined for a time of 3:27.65, placing fourth overall and will vie for the national title at 7:51 p.m. ET Saturday night.
The Lady Vols collected five Second Team All-America certificates on Thursday with their top-16 placements in four different events. Two Lady Vols competed in the 100-meter dash semifinals, with sixth-year senior Joella Lloyd taking 11th with a time of 11.19 and Page finish 14th in 11.24. It marked the first time since 2008 that UT had multiple 100-meter All-Americans in the same season.
Junior school record holder Sarah Schmitt became Tennessee's second outdoor pole vault All-American in program history, placing 13th overall to earn Second Team accolades. The Midlothian, Virginia, native was clean through the first two heights (4.00m, 4.15m) before clearing 4.30m (14-1.25) on her third attempt to secure the 13th-place finish.
Sophomore Lady Vol Javonya Valcourt competed alongside White in the women's 400-meter semifinal and earned All-America status as an individual for the first time in her young career. The Nassau, Bahamas, product turned in a time of 51.99 to finish 16th overall, grabbing the final Second Team spot and becoming UT's first outdoor 400-meter All-American since Felecia Majors in 2018.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles semifinal, Kyla Robinson-Hubbard earned a top-10 finish and her first individual All-America certificate – placing 10th in the field with a time of 56.45. Her mark narrowly missed the national final by 0.2 seconds, and she etched her name in UT history as the sixth Lady Vol to earn All-America honors in the 400-meter hurdles.
UP NEXT: The 11th-ranked Tennessee men's squad will return to action on Friday, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET with freshmen Grant Campbell and Aron Alvarez Aranda competing in the high jump and discus, respectively. Running events begin at approximately 10:02 p.m. with Emmanuel Bynum in the 400-meter final and conclude at 11:21 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relay final.
