June 12, 2024 | Rowing
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Meg Flanagan of the Tennessee rowing team is one of eight finalists for the prestigious Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Athlete of the Year Award, as announced by the organization Wednesday.
Â
Flanagan, a 2024 CRCA First Team All-American and member of the All-Big 12 Rowing Team this season, earns the distinction following a stellar campaign in Tennessee's 1V8+ boat. The Lady Vol First Varsity Eight crew capped its impressive season with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships, as Tennessee also took third as a team to record the program's best-ever NCAA finish.
Â
The sophomore from Blenheim, New Zealand, helped Tennessee's 1v8+ crew post a remarkable 44-4 overall boat record this spring.
Â
The CRCA Athlete of the Year Award, in its third year of existence, provides a unique opportunity for the organization to acknowledge and recognize the individual efforts, impactful actions and remarkable outcomes achieved over the academic year. The award looks to spotlight a student-athlete who was a top performer in a sport where individual recognition is so rare.
