#3 Lady Vols Advance All Boats to Grand Finals at NCAA Championships

BETHEL, Ohio – The third-ranked Tennessee rowing team earned a trio of top-three finishes Saturday morning on day two of the NCAA Championships to advance each of its crews to Sunday's Grand Finals.

The Lady Vols began action at East Fork/Harsha Lake just prior to 8:30 a.m. ET Saturday morning, with their First Eight crew hitting the water first.

With much faster racing conditions compared to that of Friday's heat races, Tennessee's 1V8+ put down a time of 6:16.689, good for second place and qualification into Sunday's Grand Final.

Tennessee finished ahead of four top-15 teams—three in the top 10—as No. 7 Washington (6:18.772) placed third, ninth-ranked Michigan (6:20.948) crossed the line in fourth, No. 5 Yale finished fifth with a time of 6:25.403 and No. 15 Ohio State (6:26.795) came in sixth place. Top-ranked Texas placed first, crossing in 6:11.845.

The Second Eight semifinal race saw the Tennessee crew place third in a tight battle, with a final time of 6:27.693. Second-ranked Stanford (6:22.455) won the race, while Texas (6:26.044) finished second. The Lady Vols crossed the line ahead of Michigan (6:31.644), Ohio State (6:37.541) and No. 14 Virginia (6:38.400).

In Tennessee's final semifinal race of the day, it earned a hard-fought, third-place finish by fending off fourth-place Michigan in the final 500 meters. Stanford (7:08.746) took first in the race while No. 4 Princeton(7:10.962) claimed second place.
Up next, each of Tennessee's three NCAA Championship crews are set to compete in Sunday's Grand Finals. The Tennessee Four gets underway at 8:56 a.m., its Second Eight is scheduled to race at 9:12 a.m. and its First Eight crew will take off at 9:28 a.m.
