Amick & Moore Named to Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List
April 04, 2024 | Baseball
CARY, N.C. – Tennessee is one of seven schools with multiple players on the 2024 Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List, as junior infielders Billy Amick and Christian Moore were both among this year's group 45 players that were named to the list, as announced by USA Baseball on Thursday.
The Southeastern Conference led all leagues with 15 players on this year's midseason watch list, followed closely by the ACC, which had 12.
Amick and Moore are the seventh and eighth players in program history to be named to the Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list for the prestigious award, which is presented annually to the nation's top amateur baseball player.
The Vols have had at least one player named to the midseason watch list in each of the past four seasons, including multiple selections in each of the last three years.
Amick has been as good as advertised during his debut season on Rocky Top after transferring in from Clemson in the offseason. The junior third baseman is tied for the team lead with 10 home runs and ranks third on the squad with 26 RBIs despite missing the last four games due to injury. The South Carolina native is batting .367 on the year to go along with a 1.242 OPS and is tied for the team lead with 12 multi-hit games.
Moore is also tied for first on the squad in multi-hit performances and home runs this season. He is the only player on the team to play in and start all 29 games to this point and is batting .333 with eight doubles, 29 runs scored and 19 RBIs entering this weekend's series at Auburn. The Brooklyn, New York, native, also ranks third on the team with 15 walks and boasts a 1.082 OPS.
