Lady Vols Turn In NCAA Leading 4x100-Meter Relay At LSU
March 30, 2024 | Track & Field
BATON ROUGE, La. – The Lady Vol quartet of Jacious Sears, Dennisha Page, Joella Lloyd and Jada Seaman became the first women's 4x100-meter relay team to break 43 seconds in Tennessee history, turning in a school record time of 42.98 to place second at the Battle on the Bayou behind a group of LSU alumni. Their mark is the fastest in the collegiate ranks this season and the No. 3 performance on the World Athletics top list.
The relay group was the first of two record breaking performances on Saturday as UT rounded out the second and final day of competition in Baton Rouge. Rookie throwing standout Aron Alvarez Aranda topped the UT freshman record in the discus for the second meet in a row, heaving a mark of 58.44m (191-8) in the fourth round. The Bloemfontein, South Africa, native moved up one spot to No. 7 on UT's all-time list in the event.
The Lady Vol 4x400-meter relay closed out the meet with a second-place finish as Javonya Valcourt, Kyla Robinson-Hubbard, DaJour Miles and Brianna White turned in a time of 3:29.65, just .35 seconds off their season-best set two weeks ago at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational. White was strong on the anchor leg, completing the relay with a split of 51.09 seconds over the final 400 meters.
