Vols 200 Medley Relay Places Fifth on Opening Night of NCAAs

INDIANAPOLIS – For the second year in a row, the Tennessee men's 200 medley relay earned a spot on the podium, taking fifth overall with a time of 1:21.91 to open the 2024 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at IU Natatorium.

The lineup of Björn Kammann, Flynn Crisci, Jordan Crooks and Gui Caribe posted the Big Orange's best finish in the event since placing third in 2007. Last year, the Vols took sixth in the country.

Kammann led things off with a 20.84 split, which was the top 50 back time in school history, followed by a 23.01 effort on the 50 breast leg by Crisci. Crooks threw down a 19.70 split in the 50 fly, and Caribe brought things home with a 18.36 50 free split—the fourth-fastest mark in the event.

Tennessee returns to action Thursday for the first full day of competition, which includes the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 1-meter diving. Prelims for swimming begin at 10 a.m. followed by the diving prelims at 12 p.m. Individuals who finish inside the top 16 will advance to the finals tomorrow night. The entire meet is streamed on ESPN+.
