KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tobe Awaka of the University of Tennessee men's basketball team is a finalist for CSC Academic All-America plaudits, as announced Tuesday by College Sports Communications (CSC).
Awaka, who also collected CSC Academic All-District honors, owns a 3.71 GPA through his first year-and-a-half at Tennessee. He is majoring in marketing with a minor in psychology.
On the hardwood, Awaka is averaging 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 62.0 percent from the floor and 73.8 percent at the line. Per KenPom, he owns an 18.4 offensive rebounding percentage that would rank fourth nationally if he qualified.
A sophomore forward, Awaka owns a 60.8 field-goal percentage in his two-year career. That ledger puts him eighth among all active SEC players with at least 100 attempts.
