Track & Field Announces 2024-25 Competition Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee track & field head coach Duane Ross has unveiled the program's competition schedule for the 2024-25 indoor and outdoor campaigns. The 2024-25 indoor slate features 11 meets from December to March, while the 2025 outdoor schedule includes 10 meets from March to June — including a pair of home competitions at Tom Black Track.

INDOOR SEASON
The Tennessee distance squad will open the campaign with a pair of athletes competing on Saturday, Dec. 7, sending Ashley Jones and Aaron Jones to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener before the winter break.
Action picks up with five meets in January, beginning Jan. 10 with the McFerrin 12 Degree Invitational (College Station, Texas) and Jan. 11 with the Clemson Invitational (Clemson, S.C.). Other top meets during the first month of 2025 include Clemson's Orange and Purple Invite (Jan. 24-25) and the Razorback Invitational (Jan. 31 – Feb. 1 in Fayetteville, Ark.).
Tennessee will close out the regular indoor season in February with three meets over two weekends of competition. The squad will visit Virginia Beach, Virginia, for a preview of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championship site at the 62nd East Coast Invitational (Feb. 7-8), before splitting up the weekend of Valentine's Day for the Tiger Paw Invitational (Feb. 14-15 in Clemson, S.C.) and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 14-15 in Boston).
Indoor postseason begins with the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by Texas A&M University and scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 at the Fasken Indoor Track & Field Facility.
National championship qualifiers will travel back to Virginia Beach for the NCAA Indoor Championships, taking place March 14-15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
OUTDOOR SEASON
The Big Orange will jump into outdoor season the week after indoor nationals, heading south to Tampa, Florida, for the USF Alumni Invitational (March 21-22). The Volunteer distance squad will return to Raleigh, North Carolina, the following weekend for the Raleigh Relays, set for March 27-29 at NC State.
The first weekend of April will feature UT's annual home meet as the Vols and Lady Vols will play host to the Tennessee Invitational at Tom Black Track April 4-5. Additionally, UT will send a squad of Vols and Lady Vols to Gainesville, Florida, that week for the Pepsi Florida Relays.
A pair of elite competitions are on tap for the weekend of April 18-19, with UT's top track performers set to return to Gainesville for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational while the distance standouts trek to the West Coast for the Bryan Clay Invitational / Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California.
Tennessee will round out the 2025 regular outdoor season at home with the first Big Orange Invitational, set for May 2-3 on the newly resurfaced Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium.
The Big Orange will travel to Lexington, Kentucky, May 15-17 to kick off outdoor postseason at the SEC Outdoor Championships. Regional qualifiers will head to Jacksonville, Florida, May 28-31 for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds, hosted this season by the University of North Florida.
The 2025 collegiate outdoor season will wrap up in Eugene, Oregon, at historic Hayward Field. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will run Wednesday through Saturday, June 11-14.
The 2024-25 season will mark Ross' third year at the helm of the Tennessee program. Last season, the Vols and Lady Vols totaled 17 school records, 39 All-America honors and 12 SEC medals over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons. The women's squad was ranked as high as No. 6 nationally during the regular indoor season, while the men ascended to No. 11 during the outdoor campaign.
