Vols in the Pros Update: Nov. 18

The 2024-25 NBA season is well underway, with seven VFLs rostered across the Association. Dalton Knecht has shined in the Los Angeles spotlight through 13 games of his professional career, while two additional VFLs—Tobias Harris and Grant Williams—have also made starts thus far. VOLS IN THE NBA

Dalton Knecht | Los Angeles Lakers | at Tennessee 2023-24

A rookie for the Lakers, Knecht has excelled for the storied franchise, having already earned three starts in his young career and averaging nearly 10 points per game. Over his last three outings, Knecht is averaging 20.0 points per game on 63.9 percent (23-of-36) shooting from the floor, including a 12-of-19 (63.2 percent) ledger from 3-point territory. In the Lakers' win over the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday in the NBA Cup (Group Play), Knecht scored a season-best 27 points, connecting on 10-of-17 field goal attempts, including a 5-of-10 mark from beyond the arc. He added seven rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals. Last week, during a home victory over Memphis, he tallied 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 5-of-5 from 3-point range, in 31 minutes. He is just the 19th rookie in NBA history to make five-plus long-range shots in a game without a miss.

Tobias Harris | Detroit Pistons | at Tennessee 2010-11

Harris, in his second stint with the Detroit Pistons, has started in each of his 14 appearances this season, averaging 16.2 points per game on a 47.8 percent field-goal shooting ledger. His season-best scoring output thus far came on Nov. 8 versus the Atlanta Hawks, as he tallied 22 points of 7-of-13 shooting, including a 5-of-8 mark from deep, also notching six rebounds, three blocks and two assists.

Grant Williams | Charlotte Hornets | at Tennessee 2016-19

Williams is in his first full campaign with the Charlotte Hornets, after being traded to the organization last season. Sunday versus the league's lone undefeated team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Williams tied his season-high rebounding total, with nine, adding 15 points, three assists and one steal. It marked his third outing with 15-plus points effort in the last four contests; he has made multiple 3-point shots in each of those four.

Josh Richardson | Miami Heat | at Tennessee 2011-15

Richardson is gradually increasing his minutes after an injury forced him to miss the beginning of the 2024-25 season with the Miami Heat. The 10th-year pro has scored at least five points in four of his last five outings.

Julian Phillips | Chicago Bulls | at Tennessee 2022-23

Phillips, a member of the Chicago Bulls, has seen an uptick in usage compared to last season. On Nov. 9, Phillips logged his first double-digit scoring performance of the season, totaling 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting, with a 2-of-3 tally from beyond the 3-point arc, to go alongside with four rebounds, two steals and a block.

Jaden Springer | Boston Celtics | at Tennessee 2020-21

With his fourth professional season underway, Springer has seen action in four early-season contests for the reigning champion Boston Celtics. In the team's second game of the year, Springer logged a season-high three rebounds in six minutes of playing time.

Keon Johnson | Brooklyn Nets | at Tennessee 2020-21

Johnson, in Brooklyn's Nov. 13 matchup versus Boston, recorded 12 points on 4-of-8 3-point shooting, five rebounds and a pair of blocks in 23 minutes. In his first full-time season on the Nets' active roster, Johnson has made multiple 3-point shots in four contests thus far.

VOLS IN THE NBA G LEAGUE

Jordan Bowden | College Park SkyHawks | at Tennessee 2016-20

Bowden has jumped out to a strong start in his tenure with the College Park SkyHawks, the NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks. He is logging 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Bowden has scored 15-plus points three times through four contests, made six field goals twice and connected on three 3-pointers on two occasions.

Josiah-Jordan James | Indiana Mad Ants | at Tennessee 2019-24

Josiah-Jordan James signed with the Indiana Mad Ants, the Indiana Pacers' G League affiliate, following his five seasons on Rocky Top. He has collected at least three rebounds in each game during the young season, with his season-high eight rebounds—five of which came on the offensive glass—coming Nov. 9 versus the Cleveland Charge.

Kennedy Chandler | Raptors 905 | at Tennessee 2021-22

Chandler, in his first campaign with Raptors 905, the G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, has hit the ground running. He is averaging over 19 points and nearly eight assists and three steals per game. Chandler opened the season with a 25-point, 11-assist double-double, registering a 10-of-21 mark from the field. The Memphis native has logged a field goal percentage of at least 44.0 percent three times in four games this year, tallying 15-plus attempts in each of those contests.

Tyreke Key | Raptors 905 | at Tennessee 2022-23

Key, a teammate to Chandler on Raptors 905, is averaging nearly 11.0 points per game, while shooting at a 43.9 percent clip from 3-point range. On Nov. 9, Key earned Raptors 905 a 116-115 victory as his buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the left wing sealed the deal in exhilarating fashion. That shot, his second made triple of the contest, capped his night with eight points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.

VOLS OVERSEAS

Kevin Punter | Spain | at Tennessee 2014-16
Punter boasts averages of 16.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season for FC Barcelona Lassa. On Wednesday, he led his squad to victory over Partizan, 87-79, in the EuroLeague. Punter scored 18 points in 32 minutes of action.

Uros Plavsic | Serbia | at Tennessee 2019-23
This season, Plavsic is averaging 5.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game for Crvena zvezda in the Serbian KLS. On Nov. 7 versus ALBA, he logged 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting in 13 minutes of play.

Olivier Nkamhoua | Germany | at Tennessee 2019-23
Nkamhoua, competing for Niners Chemnitz of the Basketball Bundesliga and the Champions League this year, holds averages of 12.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. On Nov. 10, in a win over Oldenburg, he posted 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, four rebounds and two blocks.

Victor Bailey Jr. | Germany | at Tennessee 2019-22
Bailey is a currently a teammate of Nkamhoua on Niners Chemnitz. He is averaging 10.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. On Saturday, he tallied 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal versus Braunschweig.

Kyle Alexander | Turkey | at Tennessee 2015-19
Alexander, currently playing for Türk Telekom B.K., averages 10.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest this season. He reached double-figure scoring in each of his first four appearances this year, with a season-best 16-point outing on Oct. 8 in which he also garnered 10 rebounds.
