September 10, 2023 | Women's Golf
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Tennessee women's golf is set to kick off its 2023-24 season this Monday, Sept. 11, at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina.
Hosted by the College of Charleston, the tournament will be a two-day, 54-hole event. The opening two rounds are scheduled for Monday, followed by the third and final round on Tuesday.
Head Coach Diana Cantú has selected a lineup loaded with experience to commence her third season at the helm. The starting five combined for 138 rounds of golf for Tennessee in 2022-23 and have played a total of 270 rounds in their collegiate careers.
LADY VOLS' LINEUP
Holden, a senior from Port St. Lucie, Florida, shot +1 to finish T-31st in last season's Cougar Classic. The fourth-year Lady Vol has tallied four top-25 finishes and a top-ten finish during her time at Tennessee.
Gilly will be looking to build upon her momentum at the end of last season; her –5 score at NCAA regionals was the third lowest in program history and netted her a ninth-place finish. A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Gilly shot –2 at last year's Cougar Classic, good for T-21st.
A former All-SEC Freshman and SEC Co-Golfer of the Week, Davis will tee off her third year as a Lady Vol on Monday. The White Plains, Maryland, native shot a career-low 63 in the second round of the Mercedes Benz Collegiate, the lowest 18-hole score in the history of the tournament.
Hailing from Bangkok, Thailand, Chotikabhukkana returns to Rocky Top after a stellar freshman campaign. Her 16 scores of par or better in 2022-23 was the second most in program history, and her –3 at NCAA regionals was her fifth top-25 finish of the season.
Caroline Patterson
Also entering her sophomore season, Patterson has already garnered four top-25 finishes, including last year's SEC championship. Her seven pars or better was fourth among last season's Lady Vols, and she finished third in overall rounds played (30).
