Fahey Medals at World Rowing Under 23 Championships, Seawright Competes for Team Canada

PLOVDIV, Belgium – Incoming transfer Alice Fahey and returner Emma Seawright of the Tennessee rowing team capped competition at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Belgium last week.

Fahey represented the Lady Vols well, bringing home silver in the women's coxed four. Fahey, alongside Lucy Burrell, Rebecca Leigh, Shakira Mirfin and Ella Greenslade (cox), earned New Zealand its first medal at the Championships.

The Kiwis outpaced the Americans, but trailed the Australian team by two seconds with 1000 meters to run. With 500 meters to go, the New Zealand crew produced a wind that narrowed the Aussies' lead to just one second. The Australians went on to win gold (06:49.56), with New Zealand's impressive run earning silver (06:50.86). The USA won bronze (06:51.59).

Seawright, a rising senior at Tennessee and three-time All-Big 12 Rowing team member, and Team Canada placed fifth in the event's women's four (BW4-) A final with a time of 06:39.90.

In 2023, Seawright competed in the 1V8 boat during the season and won a bronze medal at the Big 12 Championship for a third-place finish with a mark of 6:31.003.
