Men’s Golf Central: Auburn NCAA Regional
May 14, 2023 | Men's Golf
The No. 2-seeded Tennessee men's golf team is set to begin NCAA play this week, competing in the Auburn Regional.
The Auburn Regional, along with six other regionals across the country, is scheduled to run from Monday through Wednesday with an 18-hole round of competition each day. The top five teams from each regional will then advance to the NCAA Championships—set to be contested from May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
This week's NCAA Regional is set to be contested at the par-71, 7,591-yard Auburn University Club. The Bill Bergin designed course opened in 1999 and serves as the Auburn University men's and women's home course.
Tennessee has qualified for the NCAA Regionals in each of Brennan Webb's seasons as head coach (with the exception of 2020's cancelation). In 2021, the Vols finished tied for second place at the Noblesville Regional and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2013. Last season, UT placed seventh in the Bryan-College Station Regional.
Over the course of this season, Tennessee has claimed three team titles, as well as four individual titles this season. The Vols are coming off a first-place stroke play finish at the SEC Championship, qualifying for match play for the fourth straight year and advancing to the semifinals. Freshman Caleb Surratt took home the individual SEC Championship after firing a 14-under 196, which tied for the second-best 54-hole score in SEC Championship history.
