WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Tennessee track & field was represented by 12 athletes on Friday at the Wake Forest Invitational, and the group combined for four personal records and seven top-five finishes inside Kentner Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Sophomore hurdler Sam McLendon stood out with a victory in the men's 110-meter hurdles, clocking a lifetime-best mark of 14.02 to place first overall at Wake Forest.

The Lady Vols had two senior sprinters log runner-up finishes on Friday, with Uchechi Nwogwugwu running a season-best 54.28 in the 400-meter dash before Nicole Sreenan turned in a time of 24.45 in the 200-meter dash.

Two Vols competed in the throwing events at Wake Forest, starting with decathlete Peyton Davis hurling the javelin 57.86 meters (189-10) to place fourth in his first javelin competition of the season. Tennessee graduate Israel Adesina heaved a new lifetime-best of 51.96 meters (170-6) to take fifth in the discus throw, good for the best mark by a Vol this season and ranking No. 16 on the 2023 SEC outdoor performance list.

Tennessee's mid-distance crew posted a pair of PRs in the 800-meter competitions, leading off with freshman Michael Rodriguez-King clocking in at 1:51.67 to shave two hundredths of a second off his personal best. Lady Vol senior Emily Knight had a strong race in the women's invite sections, crossing the line in 2:11.88 to lower her PR for the second time this outdoor season.

The one-day meet concluded with redshirt sophomore Msgana Araya running her first career 10,000-meter on the track, clocking a time of 35:36.39 to place sixth overall. Her mark ranks 15th on this year's SEC leaderboard.

UP NEXT: Tennessee's 2023 outdoor regular season will conclude next weekend at the LSU Invitational, a one-day meet set for Saturday, April 29 at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Tennessee will return to Baton Rouge two weeks later for the SEC Outdoor Championships, as postseason action kicks off May 11-13 at LSU.
