Lady Vol 2V4 Named Big 12 Boat of the Week
April 12, 2023 | Rowing
IRVING, Texas – After an impressive showing at the Big Ten Invitational this past weekend, Tennessee rowing's 2V4 crew garnered Big 12 Boat of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday.Â
 Â
The boat was coxed by Ella Hill and featured Kayla Anderson, Alyssa Biernat, Grace Wolfenbarger and Sarah Powell. This marked the eighth time ever in which the Lady Vols won the award, and this was the first time a varsity four earned the recognition. After only winning the weekly honor twice before last season, head coach Lisa Glenn has coached the Big Orange to six Big 12 Boat of the Week awards between last year and this year.Â
Â
Over the weekend, the Lady Vol 2V4 enjoyed a strong 7-1 record during the two-day Big Ten Invitational. The lineup was the outright winner in two of its three races throughout the regatta. For the season, the boat owns a 12-5 record.
Â
On Friday, the crew opened the Invite by posting their top time of the weekend. The Big Orange lineup marked a 7:19.977 effort to defeat Alabama, Iowa and Wisconsin. This performance was the fifth-fastest time among the 15 second varsity four boats during the morning session and was a better mark than that of Indiana, Rutgers, Michigan, UCLA, UCF and Michigan State—all teams ranked or receiving votes in the latest coaches poll.Â
Â
In their second race on Friday, the Lady Vols outpaced Minnesota by 22 seconds for a second-place finish (7:33.634). The crew rounded out the regatta with a win on Saturday morning, besting Iowa, UCF and Michigan State thanks to a time of 7:22.452.Â

Times:Â Â
I Session - 1. Tennessee (7:19.977), 2. Alabama (7:21.647), 3. Iowa (7:22.125), 4. Wisconsin (7:32.697)Â
