April 01, 2023 | Women's Basketball
Tennessee women's basketball seniors Jordan Horston and Rickea Jackson have been named WBCA All-America Honorable Mention.
Horston, a 6-foot-2 guard, received that distinction for the second straight season from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, while Jackson, a 6-2 small forward, earned the accolade for the first time as a Lady Vol and the third occasion in her career.
Â
The duo previously earned 2022-23 honorable mention All-America acclaim from Associated Press, and Jackson was on the USBWA honorable mention list as well as a top-five finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award. Both Lady Vols also were Coaches All-SEC First Team and SEC All-Tournament choices this season.
Jackson paced Tennessee with 19.2 ppg. and chipped in 6.1 rpg. in all games, while tallying 21.4 ppg. and 6.4 in league play this season. Horston, meanwhile, ranked second for the Big Orange in scoring at 15.6 ppg. and led UT in rebounding at 7.1 in all games while posting 13.9 ppg. and 7.5 rpg. vs. SEC foes. Horston registered more than 100 assists (117/3.3 apg.) in a season for the third occasion and became only the second Lady Vol in history to lead the team in assists averaged four times.
Jackson had 16 20-point scoring efforts to her credit this season, while Horston tallied eight. Horston carded eight double-doubles in 2022-23, while Jackson produced four. Jackson hit double-figure point totals in 33 of her 35 games, while Horston fired in 10 or more points in 30 of 35 contests.
Horston (17), who has declared for the WNBA Draft, and Jackson (16), who has announced she will return for one more season at Tennessee, rank No. 8 and No. 9 in career 20-point games at UT. Jackson's total of 16 this season ranks as the ninth-best single-season tally in school history.
