McCallum’s Strong Showing Highlights Final Day of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. — Tennessee true freshman T'Mars McCallum stood out for the Big Orange track & field program on Saturday at the Raleigh Relays, taking third in the men's 200-meter dash and finishing eighth in the long jump at NC State's Paul Derr Track.
The rookie from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, clocked in at 21.20 seconds in his first collegiate outdoor 200-meter, finishing third out of 67 competitors at the meet. Also competing in the long jump, his best mark of 7.00 meters (22-11.75) came on his first attempt and wound up eighth of 32 athletes in the event.
Saturday's action began with Maia Stewart and Emily Knight running the women's 800-meter and both Lady Vols turning in a pair of personal records. Stewart won her heat with a time of 2:10.83, while Knight was second in the following section with a time of 2:13.04, edging her previous PR by six hundredths of a second.
Six Lady Vols ran the 200-meter dash on Friday with graduate student Nicole Sreenan leading the way, stopping the clock at 24.15 with a 2.1 m/s tailwind.
The meet concluded for Tennessee with a trio of Vols running the 800-meter, led by Waxhaw, North Carolina, native Will Mazur posting a time of 1:50.87 and placing 20th overall.

UP NEXT: The Big Orange will compete in a pair of outdoor meets next weekend, traveling to Austin, Texas, for the Texas Relays (March 30 - April 1) and sending a group to High Point, N.C. for the VertKlasse Meeting (March 31 - April 1).
