Striplin Nabs CSC Academic All-District Distinction
February 22, 2023 | Women's Basketball, Tennessee Tailored
The College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization has announced its 2022-23 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, and Tennessee sophomore Karoline Striplin is among those earning distinction.
The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Striplin, who hails from Hartford, Ala., carries a 3.85 grade point average in journalism and electronic media. She earned SEC Academic Honor Roll acclaim a year ago for her work in the classroom and is on track to do the same again in 2022-23.
Â
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America selections will be announced in March.
Â
On the court, the 6-foot-3 forward has appeared in 25 games this season, starting the last 20 of those as Tennessee has posted a 20-9 overall mark and 12-2 record in SEC play. Striplin is averaging 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per contest and is shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from the three-point arc.
Â
Striplin is logging 13.0 minutes per game for Kellie Harper's squad, playing a role as part of a three-player post rotation that is holding down the Lady Vols' interior after starting center Tamari Key was lost for the season due to a medical condition. Striplin has scored in double figures twice, firing in a career-best 13 points at Vanderbilt on 6-of-9 shooting and tallying 10 vs. Eastern Kentucky on 5-of-6 marksmanship.
Â
Against Alabama, Striplin had a season high in rebounds and a career best for blocked shots, grabbing eight caroms and rejecting three Crimson Tide shot attempts. She posted her career high in assists vs. Wofford, dishing six dimes vs. the Terriers.
