February 16, 2023 | Track & Field, Cross Country
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — With indoor championship season right around the corner, the 2022-23 indoor regular season concludes this weekend with Tennessee track & field competing in a pair of meets—the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday, Feb. 17 and the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Redshirt junior thrower Chandler Hayden will get an early look at the SEC Indoor Championship venue, traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Arkansas Qualifier and competing in the women's weight throw. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. ET as the Lady Vol from Pittsfield, Illinois, looks to improve upon her PR and season-best heave of 21.39m (70-2.25) set at the Bob Pollock Invitational on Jan. 27.
Live results for the Arkansas Qualifier will be available via Flash Results, while the meet will be streamed on SEC Network+.
Tennessee will toe the line in the distance medley relay for the first time this season at the Alex Wilson Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame at Meyo Field on Saturday. The starting pistol fires at noon, and the Big Orange will be represented by Canaan Anderson, Rasheeme Griffith, Joe Hoots and Yaseen Abdalla—taking aim at a time that will position the group for a bid to the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Endurance Race Timing will provide live results for the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday.
UP NEXT: Postseason action begins next week as the Tennessee track & field squad heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas, Feb. 24-25 for the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships. The conference meet will mark the Tennessee postseason debut for head coach Duane Ross, who has the Vols (No. 5) and Lady Vols (No. 12) ranked in the top-12 nationally in the most recent national track & field rating index.
