Vols Keep Top-15 Ranking in Coaches Poll

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee men's basketball team is in the top 15 of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll for the fourth time in as many releases in 2023-24.
The Volunteers hold the No. 13 position on the list, tied with BYU, as announced Monday afternoon Tennessee (4-3) also places No. 17 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, marking the 43rd consecutive week they are in featured in the rankings.
Last week, the Volunteers dropped a 100-92 decision Wednesday at North Carolina, then No. 17/16 and now No. 9/10, in an ACC/SEC Challenge matchup in Chapel Hill, N.C. Fifth-year guard Dalton Knecht scored a career-best 37 points to tie the record for the most points by a visitor at the Dean E. Smith Center and top point total by a Volunteer in any non-conference game over the past 21 seasons.
Tennessee fell just two spots in the Coaches Poll and went from 462 points to 352 points in the balloting. In the AP Poll, it went down seven positions and fell from 1,136 points to 509 after its third straight game against a top-20 foe away from home.
Up next for Tennessee is its first home game in three weeks, as it welcomes George Mason to Food City Center, with action slated for Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., live on SEC Network+.
