XC Preview: NCAA Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 11 Lady Vols and No. 15 Vols are set to race on Saturday at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Charlottesville, Virginia. It marks the first time since 2005 that both squads will compete together at the national meet.
The women's 6K race gets underway at 10:20 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 10K at 11:10 a.m. For real-time results, fans can rely on PTTiming, accessible HERE. ESPNU will broadcast the race nationally with coverage beginning at 9:30 a.m. Coverage of the race can be found at this LINK.
Tennessee's cross country squads qualified for the national meet at last weekend's NCAA South Regional, sweeping the region titles for the first time since 2002. By winning the regional race, the Vols and Lady Vols earned automatic qualifying spots.
For the women, it was their first region crown since 2005, while the men captured back-to-back region championships for the first time since 1994-95.
Representing the Lady Vols at the national meet will be Jillian Candelino, Kayla Gholar, Andie-Marie Jones, Ashley Jones, Caroline Lyerly, Jessie Secor, Rachel Sutliff and Callie Tucker.
For the Vols, Yaseen Abdalla, Brett Brady, Dean Casey, Nate Kawalec, Jacob Lewis, Eli Nahom, Jacob Nenow, Brandon Olden and Gabriel Sanchez will compete for the Big Orange.
The NCAA Championships will close out the 2023 cross country season with Tennessee's coaches and student-athletes turning their attention to the opening of the indoor track and field season.
