Chotikabhukkana in Top 15 After Day One of Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee women's golf sits in 10th place after one day at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship at Cherokee Country Club. The Lady Vols shot 6-over (290), led by sophomore Manassanan Chotikabhukkana, who sits in 14th place after shooting 1-under (70).
The Bangkok, Thailand native carded an impressive 34 on the back nine, thanks to three straight birdies on holes 15 through 17. Dating back to the Mary Fossum Invitational in September, her last seven rounds of golf have resulted in an average score of 72.
Senior Vanessa Gilly and freshman Martina-Lopez Lanchares are tied for 30th place after a 2-over (74) in round one. The duo had eerily similar performances, with both shooting a 3-over (38) on the front nine and using two birdies on the back nine to shoot 1-under (35).
Caroline Patterson shot a 3-over (74) thanks to three birdies. The sophomore from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, sits in 39th place headed into Monday's action. Senior Kayla Holden shot a 9-over (80) to finish the day tied for 74th.
Competing as individuals, Angela Arora and Bailey Davis sit in 39th and 77th place, respectively. Arora had three birdies in round one to card a 3-over (74).
