Lewis & Sutliff Lead Tennessee in Dual with Florida State

BOONE, N.C. – Jacob Lewis and Rachel Sutliff led the Vols and Lady Vols Friday morning as the Tennessee men's and women's cross country teams raced a dual meet against Florida State in Boone, North Carolina.
Both squads placed second to the Seminoles, with the men and women scoring 39 points. The FSU men posted 22 points, while its women's team finished with 20.
The women opened the morning at 8 a.m. ET with a 4-mile run and were followed by the men competing in a 6-mile run.
MEN'S RACE RECAP
Lewis finished second overall for the second consecutive race at 29:12.03. Eli Nahom – the winner of the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational – placed fourth at 29:14.40. Canaan Anderson (30:04.10), Will Cronin (30:04.65) and Conner Hawkins (30:10.87) rounded out UT's top five.
WOMEN'S RACE RECAP
The Lady Vols placed three in the top seven in the 4-mile race, with Sutliff leading the pack at 22:09.96 and placing fourth overall. She was closely followed by freshman Andie-Marie Jones in fifth at 22:14.02. Kayla Gholar crossed the line in seventh with a time of 22:16.98.
Msgana Araya and Allison Buemi finished 12th and 15th, respectively, at 22:37.06 and 22:19.56.
UP NEXT
Tennessee will race next in Louisville, Kentucky, at the Live in Lou Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1. It will be the final race before entering into a training cycle that will see the Vols and Lady Vols prepare for the SEC Championships on Friday, Oct. 28.
