
MATCH CENTRAL: UT vs. Tennessee Tech

The Lady Vols (1-2-1) enter the contest on the heels of a 4-0 victory over Bowling Green in Regal Stadium on Thursday. Redshirt-junior Jaida Thomas netted two goals on the night, while sophomore Taylor Huff and redshirt-freshman Jenna Stayart each added one.
TTU (1-2-2) is coming off a 1-1 draw at Chattanooga on Thursday.
UT has played the Golden Eagles just once previously, winning 6-0 in Cookeville last season.Â
UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will play their fifth straight home game on Thursday, welcoming Kennesaw State for a 6:30 p.m. ET match that will be streamed on SECN+.
SCOUTING TTU: The Golden Eagles were picked to finish third in the Ohio Valley Conference this season behind Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and UT Martin. TTU finished the 2021 season with a 6-6-4 overall record and a 3-2-3 mark in conference play.Â
VS OVC: Tennessee is 7-1-1 all-time against OVC schools. Its only OVC loss came against Southeast Missouri in the 2016 season opener.
NATIONAL TEAM ACTION:  Freshman Kameron Simmonds and redshirt-junior Giselle Washington have been called into the Jamaican Women's National Team camp ahead of the Reggae Girlz international friendly against South Korea on Sept. 3. It is the first call-up to the senior team for Simmonds who has previously been active with the U-17 and U-20 squads. Washington scored four goals during the 2019 CONCACAF World Cup qualifying stage, helping the Reggae Girlz qualify for the country's first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup. The pair join former Tennessee standout Bunny Shaw on the roster.THOMAS ON THE MOVE: Jaida Thomas scored two goals against Bowling Green, jumping from tied for sixth into a tie for third in UTís all-time career goals. She ties Laura Lauter Smith at 29 and creeps within four goals of No. 2 Hannah Wilkinson. Kylee Rossi is UTís career goals leader with 43.
JUST HUFF THINGS: Sophomore Taylor Huff has been active for three games, racking up two goals, two assists and putting eight of 13 shots on goal.
FRESHMAN FIRSTS: Redshirt-freshman Jenna Stayart's goal in the 75th minute against Bowling Green was the first of her Lady Vol career. Freshman Macaira Midgley made the pass to set up that goal, earning her first collegiate assist.
