June 20, 2022 | Women's Basketball
Cierra Burdick's summer of 3x3 basketball just got even busier. The Tennessee Lady Vol alum (2011-15) has been selected by USA Basketball for its 2022 FIBA Women's Series Team.
Burdick's selection comes on the heels of her pick for the 2022 USA Women's FIBA 3x3 World Cup squad. That unit, coached by another Lady Vol alum in Kara Lawson (1999-2003), will compete June 21-26 in Antwerp, Belgium, and its performance will be recapped after the tournament on UTSports.com.
As for her most recent invitation, this is USA Basketball's second consecutive year and third overall assembling a FIBA 3x3 Women's Series team (2019, 2021). The team was selected by the USA Basketball 3x3 Women's National Team Selection Committee.
The USA women's roster includes Burdick, Joanne Allen-Taylor, Lauren Cox, Linnae Harper, Breanna Richardson and Kayla Wells.
Burdick, a 2015 University of Tennessee graduate, has been a member of several USA Basketball teams (five-on-five and 3x3) since 2009. Most recently, she won a gold medal at the 2021 3x3 AmeriCup. She also owns gold medals from the 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, 2011 FIBA U19 World Cup, 2010 FIBA U17 World Cup and 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.
The USA Women's World Series Team will make its first appearance at the Women's Series Poitiers stop in Poitiers, France, from June 28 to 29. Burdick, Richardson, Harper and Wells are slated to represent the team during that event.
