USA U18 Team Cruises Past El Salvador

The USA outscored El Salvador, 60-12, in the first two quarters combined and cruised to a 106-31 victory to close out Group B play Wednesday at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship at Estadio Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

USA put together quarter advantages of 24-6, 36-6, 24-13 and 22-6 in improving to 3-0 in Group competition and improving to 62-2 all-time in FIBA U18 play. The quarterfinals are set for Friday. Tennessee freshman Justine Pissott, a 6-foot-4 wing from Toms River, N.J., logged 15:34 minutes of duty in reserve, chipping in two points and three rebounds toward the victorious cause.

The USA has won gold in the last nine FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championships and 10 gold medals since the event's inception in 1988. Â
Pissott is a product of Red Bank Catholic High School. The five-star recruit, who was ranked No. 11 overall and the No. 2 wing in the class of 2022 espnW 100, was named an All-American by both McDonald's and the WBCA, and was a participant in the Jordan Brand Classic.
