Listen: "The Slice" Podcast Featuring Offensive Lineman Jerome Carvin
May 09, 2022 | Football
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Senior offensive lineman and Memphis native Jerome Carvin joins this week's episode of "The Slice," Tennessee football's official podcast as the Volunteers wrap up spring semester classes.
"The Slice" is available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify (search The Slice). VFL Films' Kasey Funderburg conducts the in-depth interview, while Travis Dean produces the episode.
Carvin elected to return to Tennessee for his fifth and final collegiate year. He enters 2022 as one of the most established linemen in the Southeastern Conference, having issued only one sack in his last three seasons combined and zero a year ago.
Carvin discussed growing up in a military family, moving from Guam to Louisiana and then to Memphis in 2005.
"Growing up there taught me how to work," Carvin said. "It's a blue-collar town. People work hard there. That grit and grind, that's what made me who I am today."
After an outstanding prep career at Cordova High School, Carvin has illustrated his versatility in Knoxville. He has played in 47 games with 30 starts, including all 13 last fall as the Vols established themselves as one of the nation's top offenses.
