KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee track & field closed out the regular season Saturday at home at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium, hosting the Tennessee Challenge.
The Vols and Lady Vols finished the meet with 18 personal bests and eight event wins.
Skylar Coffey opened the meet with a win in the men's shot put, throwing a personal-best 18.15m (59-6.75). The victory is Coffey's second in as many weeks, following a win in men's discus last weekend at the 126th Penn Relays.
The Lady Vols picked up the next win on the track as Jasmine Fehr (4:40.94), Erin Spreen (4:51.30), Jette Davidson (4:52.34) and Ainsley Cooper (4:55.11) placed 1-2-3-4 in the women's 1,500-meter run.
That was followed by Ethan Robinson in the men's 110-meter hurdles, winning in a lifetime-best 14.29 seconds. Robinson stood out on the day as in addition to his PB and win in the 110mH, he set two more lifetime bests as he competed in the men's pole vault and discus throw.
In the pole vault, Robinson joined the 15-foot club as he cleared 4.57m (15-0). In the discus throw, the freshman flung the discus 32.30m (105-11).
The 1-2-3-4 finish was replicated by the women in the 800-meter as Emma Dilullo (2:11.74), Carolyn Barksdale (2:15.59), Emily Knight (2:15.97) and Maia Stewart (2:16.13) combined for the feat.
In the men's 800m, the Vols earned the win and set four personal-best times. Joe Hoots took the victory in 1:49.06 and was closely followed by Justin Swann in second at 1:49.73. Blake Ewaskey (1:50.92) and Preston Ruth (1:52.81) finished fourth and fifth in the race.
