Vols Named Sixth Seed for NCAA Tournament, Hosting Tennessee Tech in First Round

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Having won eight of its previous 10 matches, the Tennessee men's tennis team is the No. 6 overall seed in the 2022 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.
Tennessee enters the NCAA postseason with the second-most wins among SEC teams this dual season, with a 22-7 overall record and has been ranked inside the ITA top 5 for a nation-leading 28 weeks in a row.
Being selected as a regional host site for the tournament's first and second rounds, Tennessee will play host to OVC Tournament Champions Tennessee Tech in the opening round on Friday May 6 at 1 p.m. ET.
The fifth-ranked Vols have amassed 20 or more wins in each of the past four full seasons. The Vols were 14-2 when the 2020 dual season was shut down due to COVID-19 and reached the 20-win mark in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Knoxville will also welcome ACC foe Duke and American Athletic Conference member, Memphis who will compete for the chance to play the winner of the Vols and Golden Eagles on May 6 at 10 a.m. ET.
The remaining two squads will play for a spot in the round of 16, with that match taking place on Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. ET.
All three matches this weekend will be played outside at UT's Barksdale Stadium.

VOLS HOSTING REGIONALS
This marks the Vols' 13th time hosting the NCAA's first and second rounds and will do so for the third time in as many NCAA Tournaments.
UT boasts a 23-1 record when hosting an NCAA regional and is riding a 22-match win streak in such matches dating to the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
