After helping lead Tennessee to the SEC Tournament semifinals in Athens, Tennessee graduate student Adam Walton became one of six individuals to be named to the SEC All-Tournament Team, the conference announced Sunday.
Walton recorded a pair of top-32 singles victories and a ranked doubles win for a 3-1 overall record at the tournament.
In the Vols' 4-0 sweep of Alabama Thursday, Walton toppled 32nd-ranked Filip Planinsek for the second time in seven days, winning 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. Friday's 4-1 Tennessee win over 11th-ranked Georgia saw Walton earn his first match clinch of the season, defeating the Bulldogs' No. 13 Hamish Stewart in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. This dual season, Walton is 13-6 at the top of Tennessee's singles lineup.
Walton's doubles win came with senior Pat Harper on court one Friday, a 6-4 victory over Georgia's 62nd-ranked pairing of Tristan Mccormick and Stewart. Walton has logged a 16-6 mark in dual doubles matches this year. The honor marks the 12th time a Vol has been named to the SEC All-Tournament Team and the second time Walton has received the recognition, also earning it in 2019.
The Home Hill, Australia, native is one doubles triumph shy of becoming the sixth Vol in program history to enter the career 100/100 club with 100 singles wins and 100 doubles wins.
