Vols Fall in SEC Match Play Quarterfinals

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Tennessee men's golf team concluded competition at the SEC Championships Saturday, falling in the match play quarterfinals to Texas A&M, 4-1.
For the second straight year, Bryce Lewis captured a win in match play—defeating the Aggies' Sam Bennett, 2 and 3, to give the Vols their lone win of the day.
Despite carrying leads into the back nine, Jake Hall and Tyler Johnson were unable to hang on as the round progressed. Hall and Johnson each dropped their matches, 2 and 1, to Texas A&M's William Paysse and Daniel Rodrigues, respectively.
Spencer Cross also fell in a close battle to Phichaksn Maichon, 2 and 3. Hunter Wolcott fell to the Aggies' Walker Lee, 5 and 3.
The Vols will now begin preparations for NCAA competition. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Wednesday, May 4 at 4 p.m. ET and will air on Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals are scheduled to take place from May 16 through May 18.
