Two Ranked Victories Earns Lady Vol 1V8 Big 12 Boat of the Week

IRVING, Texas – After compiling a 7-2 record and earning a pair of top-20 victories during the Big Ten Invitational this past weekend, the Tennessee varsity eight boat received its fourth Big 12 Boat of the Week of the season, the league office announced Wednesday.

In the first session of the day, the Lady Vols defeated No. 20 Indiana, Dartmouth and Michigan State with a time of 6:31.323. During the afternoon slate, Tennessee crossed the finish line first with a 6:34.529 mark to top 12th-ranked Virginia, Iowa and Wisconsin.

In the final session of the regatta, the varsity eight posted its fastest time of the weekend (6:29.800), defeating Minnesota but narrowly falling to the No. 20 Indiana (6:23.257) and No. 10 Duke (6:24.984).

For the season, UT's 1V8 owns a 16-4 record with victories over four top-20 opponents.

Tennessee, ranked 19th in the most recent Pocock CRCA Coaches Poll, is off from competition this weekend before heading to the Princeton Invite on April 30 at 9 a.m. ET.
