UT Wraps Up Big Ten Invitational
April 16, 2022 | Rowing
SARASOTA, Fla. – Tennessee rowing notched a pair of third-place finishes to conclude the final day of the Big Ten Invitational at Nathan Benderson Park.
"The racing this weekend was high caliber: just what we needed at this time in our development," head coach Lisa Glenn said. "We won some hard-fought races and learned quite a bit on our last trip down the course; lessons we'll take forward into the next part of the season. Thanks to host Wisconsin and the Big Ten programs and volunteers for putting on a great event."
In the lone session of the day, the 18th-ranked Lady Vols took on No. 10 Duke, No. 20 Indiana and Minnesota. UT's first and second varsity eight boats both placed third in tight races.
Â
The 1V8 posted its fastest mark of the weekend at 6:29.800, defeating Minnesota but narrowly falling to the Hoosiers (6:23.257) and Blue Devils (6:24.984). Madelyn Walsh coxed the lineup of Emma Seawright, Natalia Loram, Kathleen Rice, Jaimie Armitage, Reagan Long, Lindsey Morrissett, Sydney Pardy and Erin Gifford during the race.
Â
In the 2V8 race, UT crossed the finish line in 6:39.137 to defeat Minnesota and finish less than eight seconds off the top time by Duke (6:31.821).
