April 13, 2022 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE – For the second consecutive year, Kylie Duckworth of the Tennessee women's tennis team has been named to the 2022 SEC Community Service Team, the conference announced Wednesday.
Duckworth logged 42 and a half hours of community service in her final year on Rocky Top. She spent 28 and a half hours volunteering with Amedisys Hospice, while also working with the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission and Project Life.
"It is a very fitting award for such a deserving candidate," associate head coach Jarryd Chaplin said. " Kylie has been so committed to community outreach throughout her time in Knoxville and has certainly captained the ship for our team's community service."
The Martinez, Georgia native also spent time growing the game, taking part in events at the Knoxville Racquet Club and the Cherokee Country Club. She also volunteered to help with various on-campus Little Smoky's Clinics where she would help teach fundamental tennis skills to kids in the Knoxville community looking to learn the sport.
She also worked diligently to better the student experience at UT for both students and student-athletes. She served as Co-President of Tennessee's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, a role where she would be in direct communication with administration on how to better the student-athlete experience. On campus, she took part in Provost John Zomchick's advisory committee where she helped develop the University's strategic plan and discussed various student affairs programs to implement.
"As Co-President of SAAC, we are so proud of how Kylie has represented our program among her peers," Chaplin finished.
Duckworth celebrated her senior day last Sunday against Kentucky and played an integral role in clinching the doubles point for the Big Orange, winning 6-4 on Court 3 with Elza Tomase. Duckworth has won her last three doubles matches and looking to keep the win streak alive this weekend when the Lady Vols face Auburn and Alabama on the road.
