April 11, 2022 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee men's and women's tennis programs announced Monday the hiring of Taylor Rodgers as director of tennis operations.
Â
Rodgers is set to oversee day-to-day operations for both UT tennis programs, including team travel, equipment, facilities, tennis camps, special events and coordination for home matches.
Â
"Both of the coaching staffs and the players have been so welcoming to me and my family since we have arrived, which has been great," Rodgers said. "The atmosphere and the energy around the tennis programs and from everyone I have met in the athletic department as a whole makes it fun to come to work every day. I couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to be a part Vol and Lady Vol tennis."
Â
Rodgers arrives on Rocky Top having spent the previous year and a half at Abilene Christian University, where he was instrumental in the inner workings of the Wildcats' men's and women's tennis programs. A 2014 graduate of ACU, Rodgers went on to serve as the tennis director of operations and volunteer assistant coach for the men's and women's programs from June 2020-March 2022. In addition to this, Rodgers executed social media strategy, served as the programs' recruiting coordinator and even assisted with the stringing of racquets.
Â
"The Director of Operations plays a valuable and significant role in the success of the men's and women's tennis programs," men's tennis head coach Chris Woodruff said. "From overseeing community outreach and facility management, to airfare and hotel accommodations, they have many responsibilities. Alison and myself are confident Taylor will do an exceptional job. His commitment to excellence, honest approach, glib and articulate style will be instrumental in our operational success."
Â
Rodgers' enthusiasm and energy are characteristics that stood out to Tennessee's coaching staffs and bodes well for the future of tennis on Rocky Top.
Â
"Every once in a while you meet somebody special who has a presence about them that just sets them apart from everybody else," women's tennis head coach Alison Ojeda said. "That's the best way I can describe Taylor. He's that person that changes the energy in the room for the better and I could not be more excited to work with him and have my team around him every day."
Â
Rodgers and his wife, Faith, have one son: Miller. The Rodgers also own two dogs: Fallon and Griffey.
