Men’s Golf Central: Lewis Chitengwa Memorial

The 20th-ranked Tennessee men's golf team is set to compete in its final regular season tournament this week, taking part in the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Monday and Tuesday.
The tournament consists of three total rounds—36 holes of continuous play on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
At No. 20 in Golfstat's rankings, Tennessee is the tournament's highest-ranked team and one of four teams ranked top 50 in the nation. The tournament is set to feature 13 teams in total.
Tennessee is coming off of a third-place team finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship last week—its second top-three team finish of the season. Spencer Cross and Bryce Lewis led the way for the Vols, tying for ninth-place overall.
Tyler Johnson tied for 24th place, giving Tennessee three golfers inside the top-25 for the second straight tournament.
THE VOLS' LINEUP
Spencer Cross
Tennessee's leader in overall stroke average this season with a 70.05 mark, Cross is coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship—the third straight tournament in which he has been the Vols' highest finisher. It marked the 10th career top-10 finish for Cross and his third of the season.
Bryce Lewis
Lewis is Tennessee's leader in spring stroke average with a 69.73 mark, has shot 15 rounds par or better this season and is coming off his third top-10 finish of the season. Lewis has finished in the top-25 during all but one of the Vols' five spring tournaments.
Tyler Johnson
Johnson has been Tennessee's third-highest finisher in each of the five spring tournaments and has recorded back-to-back top-25 outings. Johnson boasts a season-long stroke average of 70.90 and has recorded counting rounds in 17 of the 21 rounds he was in the lineup for.
Jake Hall
Coming off his highest finish of the spring at the Mason Rudolph Championship (T-28th), Hall is included in Tennessee's lineup for the fifth time this spring. Hall has carded a team-high 19 rounds par or better this season and has posted a 71.08 stoke average this spring.
Hunter Wolcott
Wolcott has posted his two best finishes of the season in Tennessee's last two tournaments, tying for 13th place at the Hayt Invitational and tying for 28th at the Mason Rudolph Championship. Wolcott has posted a 71.83 stroke average over the course of the last two tournaments compared to a 73.17 mark during his first four tournaments of the season.

In 2018 the course underwent a 20-month renovation led by legendary PGA Professional Davis Love III and Love Golf Design. The redesigned Birdwood has drawn rave reviews—Golf Digest ranked it the No. 3 new course in 2021, Golf.com ranked it the No. 7 course in Virginia and GolfLink listed it as the ninth-best college course.
