Cross, Lewis in Top Five Through One Round at Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Senior Spencer Cross and redshirt sophomore Bryce Lewis are both inside the top five after round one of the Mason Rudolph Championship, while the 20th-ranked Tennessee men's golf team is in second place.
As a team, Tennessee shot 9-under on Friday to start off the weekend and has three players in the top-25 entering Saturday's second round. The Vols are nine strokes back from field leader Vanderbilt
Cross led the way for Tennessee on Friday, shooting 5-under 66 and making six total birdies. The senior carded just one bogey on the day and is tied for third place overall entering round two. It marks Cross' 13th round of par better on the season as well as his second-lowest round overall this season.
The Sevierville native is three strokes out of the lead heading into round two.
Tied for fifth place, Lewis was just one stroke behind Cross on Friday—shooting 4-under. Lewis made four birdies on the day and recorded an eagle on hole 18 to finish the day strong.
Jake Hall is Tennessee's third golfer inside the top 25 entering round two, as he shot 1-under on Friday, tallying his 18th round of par or better this season. After shooting 3-over on the front nine on Friday, Hall shot 4-under on the back nine to propel himself to an under par finish in round one. Hall is tied for 22nd place heading into round two.
Tyler Johnson and Hunter Wolcott tied for Tennessee's fourth-best score on Friday, each shooting 1-over for the day. The duo is tied for 47th place place.
Competing as an individual, Laurent Desmarchais shot 2-over on Friday and is tied for 54th place.
