
Tennessee Places Eight on All-SEC Teams

BIRMINGHAM. Ala. -Â Â The Southeastern Conference announced Monday that Tennessee track & field has placed eight student-athletes on postseason All-SEC teams.
The All-SEC first team consists of the top finishers in each event, while the second team features the second and third-place finishers in each event. The all-freshman team consists of the highest freshman finisher – true freshman or redshirt – in each event.
Carey McLeod earned All-SEC first-team honors with his gold-medal winning performance in the men's long jump. He leaped a season-best-tying 8.07m (26-5.75) to claim his fourth-career SEC gold medal and his second-career indoor long jump conference title.
The Kingston, Jamaica, native is the first Vol to win multiple indoor long jump SEC titles in program history.
Tennessee had five athletes earn All-SEC second-team honors, headlined by Charisma Taylor and her silver medal in the women's 60-meter hurdles and bronze in the triple jump. Joining Taylor from the Lady Vols was Sydney Seymour as she took home silver in the women's 5,000m run.
For the men, Georgios Korakidis earned silver in the weight throw, while Yariel Soto captured UT's first medal in the heptathlon – bronze – since 2009. Jordan West secured his second silver medal at the SEC Indoor Championships in shot put.
Fuji Anday and Mikele Vickers rounded out Tennessee's postseason team honorees as they earned All-Freshman team recognition. Anday was the top freshman finisher in the men's 5,000m, placing 10th. In the women's triple jump, Vickers scored for the Lady Vols as she finished seventh.
Up next for Tennessee is the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championships. Athletes that post top-16 NCAA qualifying marks will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, for the national meet Friday and Saturday, March 11-12.
