Monday and Wallner Named to ITA Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee sophomore Johannus Monday and graduate student Mark Wallner each earned a spot on the 2022 ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship All-Tournament Team, the organization announced Friday.

The awards were voted on by participating head coaches, as six singles players and three doubles pairs received recognition.

Monday made the All-Tournament team at No. 2 singles, with wins over Pierce Rollins (Texas A&M), Toby Samuel (South Carolina) and then-15th-ranked Juan Carlos Aguilar (TCU), with two of those wins coming in straight sets. He finished play in Seattle with a 3-0 singles record.

In doubles, Monday and Wallner established themselves as the top No. 3 doubles pair in the tournament field, with an unblemished 4-0 weekend record. Their victories came in 6-4 fashion over Raphael Perot and Giulio Perego of Texas A&M, 6-3 over James Story and Raphael Lambling (South Carolina), 7-5 versus Baylor's Adrian Boitan and Tadeas Paroulek and a 6-3 triumph over TCU's Juan Carlos Aguilar/Tim Ruehl.

The top-ranked Vols return to action Tuesday, March 1 at home against Furman. First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET from Barksdale Stadium.
